Job Post: Change Agents Producers

SEEKING PODCAST PRODUCERS
 
The podcast Change Agents is seeking producers for season four of its series. We are looking for journalists with 1 – 3 years of professional experience who have completed their studies and are in the early stages of their career.  Examples of previous work and references are required.  Audio experience will be looked on favorably, but we are also interested in print or multi-media producers with a strong sense of story.  Change Agents uses an audio-documentary format, its stories are interview-driven and character based.  Storytellers with experience in Longform journalism are encouraged to apply.  Applicants should have a strong interest in social justice reporting and hyperlocal media.  Priority consideration will be given to BIPOC producers, but ALL candidates will be considered.  Training in audio field producing and post- production will be provided, as will recording gear.    
 
Producers will be assigned stories and partnered with grassroots organizations, primarily in communities of color, to create podcast episodes told through a community lens.  Candidates will be expected to form tight working relationships with their partners and should be confident working outside of their comfort zones.  This season will focus on two topics, homeownership in black and brown communities and overcoming post-incarceration barriers for returning citizens.  
 
This is a 16-week contract hire to produce a 15 – 25-minute episode for the podcast series Change Agents. Project rate is $6000.  Week one of the contract will require a mandatory 3-day orientation that will include training built around the specific principles of the Change Agents’ production model.  Dates for the orientation are Fri. Feb. 9, Sat. Feb. 10 and Sun. Feb. 11. Most, but not all Saturdays that follow will be set aside for 3-hour work sessions starting at 10AM.   The production lab will conclude on Sat. May 25, 2024.
